Tips & Performance

Performance tips (Skill Opacity, upscaling, DPS meter), in-game vs community name aliases, difficulty unlock path, and advanced Early Access advice.

Performance & Readability

Extreme monster and projectile counts can stress mid-range PCs. Use these options before blaming your build.

Skill Opacity (I / O)

Lower spell VFX opacity in Options or with I / O. Dense Gemini / Leo screens stay readable and often feel smoother on mid-range GPUs.

GPU / OS upscaling

0.1.8.3 added GPU and OS-based upscaling. Enable it if framerate dips during Extreme density or late Endless floors.

DPS meter realism

0.1.8.8 adds a toggleable damage meter. Use it to cut dead weight spells instead of stacking every shiny card.

Extreme spell load

Angry Wisp is actively optimizing the spell system for extreme builds. Prefer pierce / chain over endless overlapping orbs when FPS collapses.

Close overlays

Browser overlays, RGB software, and recording at 4K can tank survivor-likes harder than the game itself — close extras before Incremental climbs.

Controller vs mouse

Controller is fine for movement; mouse still wins for elite-focus primary aim when density spikes.

Frost Ball GPU cost

Older Frost Ball shaders could spike CPU/GPU; 0.1.8.x reworks reduced cost. If FPS still tanks, lower opacity and trim overlapping orbital stacks.

Record smart

Capture at 1080p60 instead of 4K when testing Incremental floors — recording overhead often looks like a “game bug”.

In-Game Names vs Community Aliases

This wiki uses in-game English UI names. Creators often use nicknames — use the table below so build videos still make sense.

In-Game Name Community Alias Notes
Ranger Hunter Common YouTube nickname for the ranged / kiting archetype.
Invoker Cryomancer Used when creators focus on frost / Aquarius lines.
Duelist Dancer Older demo-era or community label for the mobility hybrid.
Arcanist Mage / Pyromancer Some videos still use fire-mage nicknames for Leo paths.
Gemini / Leo / Libra… Aquarius, Ursa Major, Sagittarius Community fusion tables often use elemental patron nicknames; wiki tables keep in-game English spell and patron names where confirmed.
Trials Survivors Trial Survivors Official Steam title includes the plural “Trials”; some videos omit the s.

Difficulty Unlock Path

Climb fixed tiers into Unfair+, then Incremental. Endless Mode after 0.1.8.7 only starts on Unfair+ or Incremental.

Tier Description Unlock
Normal / Easy tiers Learning curve — base spells and evolutions are sufficient. Practice manual aim and trial banners. Available from start
Hard → Very Hard Mid-game scaling — fusion evolutions and relic synergies become mandatory. Mid-run events appear more often. After early biome clears
Unfair Endgame fixed tier — hybrid elemental builds and optimized relic loadouts required. After Void Sanctum / desert progress
Unfair+ Peak fixed tier before Incremental. Events spawn frequently; Lifesteal and fusion paths matter. Gateway to Endless (0.1.8.7+). Clear Unfair
Incremental (+1, +2…) Each +1 adds the same stat jump as Unfair → Unfair+ (fixed in 0.1.8.3). Endless accepts Incremental starts. Clear Unfair+

Advanced Tips

Small habits that separate failed Unfair runs from stable Incremental climbs.

Read the trial before the first upgrade

Survival wants AoE and movement. Extermination wants elite focus. Purification Well wants kills near the well. Your first two cards should match the banner.

Two spell lines beat four half-upgrades

Fusion needs level 10 on a base spell. Deepen two lines early, track them in the Codex, then branch once the evolution is secured.

Ban before the pool floods

Spend 3 Fate Dice on Constellation Ban while your bar is still small. Forcing Gemini, Leo, or Libra early is cheaper than re-rolling forever later.

Equip Lifesteal before deep Endless

Monster Health always appears on Endless cards. Kill-triggered Lifesteal plus Skill Opacity readability keeps long climbs playable.
