Release Date & Early Access

Trials Survivors launched into Steam Early Access on June 8, 2026 at 15:00 UTC. Developed and published by Angry Wisp, the game is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux via Steam with a free demo for players who want to test before buying.

What is included in Early Access?

5 playable classes, 7 constellation patrons, 95 spell evolutions, 2 biomes, a relic merchant (fox NPC), scalable endgame with no level cap, and community-driven update roadmap.

Demo vs Early Access

The free demo includes 1 biome, 5 levels, 27 spell evolutions, partial class progression, and partial controller support. Early Access adds the full relic meta-progression system, all classes and constellations, the second biome, and 68 additional spell evolutions.

Developer Roadmap

Angry Wisp plans to expand build diversity with new spells, evolutions, constellations, events, and passive skills through permanent progression. Early Access is fully playable with scalable endgame — the team uses community feedback to prioritize updates.

Controls & Input

Trials Survivors differs from traditional Survivor-likes because your primary spell requires manual mouse aim while secondary spells auto-target nearby enemies. Movement and positioning are as important as build choices.

Manual Aim vs Auto-Target

Hold your aim on elite enemies and dense clusters for maximum primary spell value. Secondary spells fire automatically, so your focus should stay on dodging and collecting loot between trial objectives.

Controller Support

Partial controller support is available during gameplay, but menus are not navigable with a gamepad as of the demo. Keyboard and mouse remain the recommended input method for Early Access.

Action Keyboard / Mouse Controller
Move W A S D Left Stick
Aim Primary Spell Mouse Right Stick
Cast Primary Left Mouse Button RT / R2
Interact / Confirm E / Enter A / Cross
Pause / Menu Esc Start (menus: keyboard only)
Dodge / Sprint Space B / Circle

Beginner Guide

Your first run follows a chain of cosmic Trials set by constellation patrons. Each completed trial grants experience, upgrade cards, and sometimes relics. Understanding the loop early saves hours of failed runs.

1. Pick a forgiving combo

Start with Arcanist + Libra or Ranger + Libra. Both pairs offer consistent upgrade cards without many dead picks.

2. Read trial objectives first

Survival trials reward AoE and movement. Elite hunts need single-target focus. Check the objective banner before choosing your first upgrade.

3. Upgrade one spell line deeply

Spreading upgrades across four spells weakens evolution triggers. Focus two spells early, then chase evolutions once the card pool narrows.

4. Invest in relic capacity

Leveling has no cap and increases how many relics you can equip. Even a short run that earns XP is worth it for permanent power.

5. Visit the fox merchant

Spend currency on relics that match your constellation — projectiles for Gemini, AoE for Leo, sustain for Taurus.

Classes

Five classes define your starting loadout and primary spell. Each archetype suits different constellations and playstyles. Class names match the in-game English UI.

Name Role Playstyle Starter Spell Difficulty
Vanguard Melee / Frontline Close-range pressure with high survivability. Best for players who like staying inside the horde and manual-aiming a short-range primary. Celestial Slash Medium
Arcanist Spell DPS / AoE Wide-area magical damage. Strong when paired with constellations that add chain, pierce, or extra projectiles. Starburst Easy
Ranger Ranged / Kiting Keeps distance while auto-targeting secondary spells. Primary requires aim but rewards positioning around obstacles. Comet Shot Easy
Invoker Summoner / DoT Slow-burn builds that scale with duration and relic slots. Weaker early runs but explosive once evolutions come online. Orbital Wisp Hard
Duelist Hybrid / Mobility High movement speed and burst windows. Demands manual aim discipline but clears trials quickly with practice. Nova Lance Hard

Class Tier List

Rankings reflect Early Access launch balance and general community feedback. Tier lists will be updated as patches land. S = strongest overall, C = niche or slow start.

Tier placements are based on clear speed, trial versatility, and learning curve at EA launch. Your constellation choice can shift a class up or down one tier.

Tier Name Reason
S Arcanist Flexible spell scaling; strong with most constellations and easiest upgrade path for new players.
A Ranger Safe kiting and reliable DPS; slightly slower trial completion than burst classes.
A Vanguard Forgiving survivability but needs relic investment to match late-run DPS.
B Duelist High skill ceiling; excellent once manual aim and movement are mastered.
B Invoker Slow start; dominates extended runs when evolution synergies fully stack.

Constellations

Seven constellation patrons shape your spell pool and upgrade direction from the first trial. Unlike random offer systems, your constellation gives every run a thematic build path from minute one.

Name Theme Spell Focus Best For
Aries Aggression / Burst Direct damage, crit, on-hit procs Duelist, Vanguard
Taurus Defense / Sustain Armor, HP regen, damage reduction Vanguard, beginners
Gemini Projectiles / Multicast Extra projectiles, split shots Arcanist, Ranger
Cancer Summons / Minions Orbital units, lingering effects Invoker
Leo AoE / Explosions Area bursts, burn, shockwaves Arcanist
Virgo Control / Utility Slow, knockback, elite deletion Ranger, control builds
Libra Balance / Hybrid Mixed offense and sustain upgrades Any class; best generalist pick

Constellation Tier List

Constellations are ranked by horde-clear speed, evolution synergy depth, and consistency across all four trial types. Gemini and Leo dominate dense enemy scenarios that define Trials Survivors.

Cancer and Taurus are underrated for relic escort and survival trials even if they rank lower for raw DPS.

Tier Name Reason
S Gemini Projectile scaling multiplies DPS across nearly every spell evolution path.
S Leo AoE explosions excel in dense hordes — the game's core challenge.
A Libra Consistent upgrades without dead picks; ideal for learning the card system.
A Aries Burst damage accelerates elite-kill trials when aim is solid.
B Virgo Strong utility but lower raw clear speed unless paired with control relics.
B Taurus Excellent survivability; slower trial timers on DPS checks.
C Cancer Summon scaling needs multiple evolutions before it outpaces direct damage.

Spell Evolutions

Early Access includes 95 spell evolutions across projectile, melee, AoE, orbital, and beam categories. Evolutions transform base spells mid-run and define whether a build becomes broken or stalls.

The demo included 27 evolutions. The table below groups the full EA roster by category — individual evolution names are preserved in English as in-game terms.

Category Count Examples Best Synergy
Projectile 28 Comet Shot, Star Lance, Void Needle Gemini, pierce relics, chain upgrades
Melee Arc 18 Celestial Slash, Solar Cleave, Rift Cut Aries, attack speed, lifesteal relics
AoE Burst 22 Nova Blast, Meteor Rain, Shockwave Leo, area relics, burn evolutions
Orbital / Summon 15 Orbital Wisp, Twin Moons, Spirit Guard Cancer, duration relics, duplicate effects
Beam / Channel 12 Solar Ray, Void Beam, Prism Line Virgo, pierce, damage-over-time stacks

Relics & Progression

Relics are the permanent meta-progression layer. Each relic boosts a stat — projectiles, pierce, chain, damage, AoE, cooldown, speed, or HP — and persists across all future runs.

Relic Capacity & Infinite Leveling

There is no level cap. Each level increases relic capacity, letting you equip more powerful combinations. Relics have associated costs, so plan purchases at the fox merchant between runs.

Key Relic Stats

If a stat exists on a spell, there is likely a relic that amplifies it. Stack stats that match your constellation and evolution path.

  • Global Additional Projectiles
  • Pierce Count
  • Chain Count
  • Bonus Damage %
  • AoE Radius
  • Cooldown Reduction
  • Movement Speed
  • Max HP / Regen
  • Relic Capacity (via leveling)

Trials & Objectives

Each run is a sequence of Trials — cosmic challenges with distinct win conditions. Completing a trial grants XP and upgrade picks. Failing a timed objective ends the run.

Trial Type Objective Strategy Tip
Survival Stay alive for a set duration (typically 3 minutes) against escalating waves. Prioritize movement and AoE over single-target. Save burst for elite spawn windows.
Elite Hunt Defeat a required number of elite enemies before the timer expires. Track elite markers on the minimap. Stack single-target evolutions and control slows.
Relic Escort Protect and deliver a relic to a destination without it being destroyed. Build defensively early; add cleave mid-run. Taurus and sustain relics shine here.
Totem Destruction Locate and destroy ominous totems scattered across the arena. Mobility matters more than raw DPS. Duelist and Ranger excel at crossing the map quickly.

Biomes & Maps

Early Access ships with two biomes. Arena layout, hazard placement, and horde density differ significantly — your build should adapt to the biome you enter.

Biome Levels Hazards Notes
Stellar Wastes 5 levels (Demo) / expanded in EA Open arenas with minimal cover; constant horde pressure from all directions. First biome most players encounter. Good for learning manual aim and trial rotation.
Void Sanctum EA exclusive levels Narrow corridors, totem spawn points, elite ambush zones. Higher monster density than Stellar Wastes. Rewards AoE and pierce builds.

Builds & Synergies

Broken builds emerge when constellation bonuses, spell evolutions, and relic stats align. These three starter recipes cover aggressive, safe, and balanced playstyles for Early Access.

Build Name Constellation Class Core Spells Relic Focus Playstyle
Gemini Arcanist Storm Gemini Arcanist Starburst → Twin Comets → Meteor Swarm Extra Projectiles, Pierce, Chain Count Screen-filling projectile spam. Aim primary at elite clusters; let secondaries auto-clear.
Leo Vanguard Inferno Leo Vanguard Celestial Slash → Solar Cleave → Inferno Ring AoE Radius, Burn Duration, Damage Dive into hordes with melee arcs and explosion procs. High risk, highest clear speed.
Libra Ranger Balanced Libra Ranger Comet Shot → Piercing Arrow → Starfall Volley Balanced offense/sustain; no dead relic picks Safest first-clear build. Kite edges, manual-aim elites, scale evenly across trials.
